A tin can is delivered to Berta Bartolotti one morning. The can is heavy, and Frau Bartolotti cannot remember having ordered anything. She is all the more horrified when seven-year-old Konrad climbs out of the tin can, brand new and, according to his birth certificate, her son. Frau Bartolotti is somewhat overwhelmed by so suddenly having a little boy in the house. But it soon turns out that Konrad has been very well brought up at the factory: he goes to bed on time, doesn’t eat sweets, and does his homework independently. Herr Egon, who occasionally visits Frau Bartolotti, also grows fond of the boy and decides without further ado to become his father. The intelligent schoolboy goes straight into the third-year class and makes friends with Kitty, the girl next door. Everyone has grown fond of the boy when it suddenly transpires that the delivery of the tin can was a mistake and Konrad is reclaimed by the factory…

The story about an unusual boy who ends up in a special family and ultimately has to fight to be able to stay was written by well-known children’s author Christine Nöstlinger. The German composer Gisbert Näther has set the story to music and thus created an entertaining piece of musical theatre for children from the age of seven. Claudia Blersch has staged the production, which enjoyed a successful run last season, as a colourful, witty and empathetic piece of theatre.
