Thursday 25th July at 7.30pm, in the heart of London, the walls of
St Martin-in-the-Fields will resound to the music of Beethoven and Rachmaninov
performed by the stunning Piccadilly Sinfonia under the baton of international
conductor, Colin Touchin and virtuoso pianist Warren Mailley-Smith who will be performing Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Universally loved for its ravishing harmonies, seductive
melodies and hugely demanding piano part, Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano concerto was
used extensively in the film ‘Brief Encounter’ and has become one of the most
beloved pieces of classical music ever written. The second half of the concert features Beethoven’s
masterpiece, the Symphony No. 5 under the baton of the great British conductor,
Colin Touchin. This is a rare opportunity for audiences to hear such
large-scale forces at St Martin’s and combined with this stunning programme,
the event promises to enthral.
