The CBSO’s Assistant Conductor Jaume Santonja Espinós has become a firm favourite here in Birmingham, and when we asked him to choose his own concert, he went all-out for passion and colour. Rimsky-Korsakov’s postcard from Spain and Prokofiev’s bittersweet fairy-tale of a final symphony frame Falla’s smouldering Spanish ballet, and five luscious, rarely-heard songs by Xavier Montsalvatge, each one glinting with Caribbean sunlight.

CBSO+ 6pm: Join CBSO Chief Executive Stephen Maddock in conversation with our longest-standing member, violinist David Gregory, about his life with the CBSO.

Please note the pre-concert talk will now start at 6pm, 15 minutes earlier than previously advertised, due to the Making an Entrance redevelopments. You will be asked to show your ticket for access into the pre-concert talk, and then invited to take your seat for the concert immediately after the talk concludes. Times of talks will be listed on the concert pages of the CBSO and THSH’s websites in advance, please check before making travel plans.
