The reflection of an admitted passion of Lorenzo Viotti, the Principal Conductor of the Gulbenkian Orchestra brings opera back to Gulbenkian Music. After the resounding success in the 2018-19 season with Romeo and Juliet, this time the chosen piece is Tchaikovsky’s Evgeni Onegin, with staging by Kristiina Helin. Tchaikovsky adapted Pushkin’s homonymous novel to opera, focused on star-crossed lovers Onegin and Tatyana, as well as the consequences and excessive acts triggered by sentimental rapture.
