Mirga conducts Brahms

Birmingham Symphony HallBroad Street, Birmingham, West Midlands, B1, United Kingdom

When Edward Elgar became professor of music at the University of Birmingham, he was eager to share his love of Brahms’ Third Symphony. And you can hear why: because from tempestuous opening to final, glowing sunset, it’s romantic music at its most gloriously colourful. That’s the inspiration behind Mirga’s programme – a ravishing setting for the UK premiere of Jörg Widmann’s deliciously dark fairytale songs.

CBSO+ 6pm: Don't miss this unique opportunity to discover more about tonight's new CBSO Centenary Commission in this pre-concert talk with Jörg Widmann.

Please note the pre-concert talk will now start at 6pm, 15 minutes earlier than previously advertised, due to the Making an Entrance redevelopments. You will be asked to show your ticket for access into the pre-concert talk, and then invited to take your seat for the concert immediately after the talk concludes. Times of talks will be listed on the concert pages of the CBSO and THSH’s websites in advance, please check before making travel plans.
