Chamber Music Takes Off!

A magnificent programme of chamber music to round off the Liceu's 20th anniversary season

In the 2018/2019 season, the Liceu launched a new series of performances – the Chamber Music Concerts – which aimed to offer a different type of event to complement the shows in the main auditorium. The first edition met with a warm reception from the audience, while the Liceu's musicians were delighted to boost the genre that is the epitome of top-quality music played at close quarters. All of which leads us to describe the 2019/2020 season as the one in which chamber music will "take off”.

The Orchestra has dedicated much energy and enthusiasm to selecting pieces in a wide variety of formats: programmes of duets, trios, quartets and wind ensembles, works for groups that include singers and for chamber orchestra, to mention but a few. All in all, the musicians from the Orchestra and the Liceu's pianists, with suggestions from the Chorus, have come up with over 25 proposals for this magnificent programme of chamber music to round off the Liceu's 20th anniversary season.

The concerts will take place in various parts of the opera house, and at other venues in Barcelona and all over Catalonia, so that everyone has an opportunity to enjoy music from the Liceu.
