Aurora Orchestra with Nicola Benedetti

Southbank Centre: Royal Festival HallBelvedere Road, London, Greater London, SE1 8XX, United Kingdom
Dates/times in London time zone
Sunday 04 July 202115:00

The programme begins with Richard Ayres' Three Pieces about Ludwig van Beethoven.

This music is about Beethoven, but when you discover that, like his predecessor, Ayres lives with long-term hearing loss, it takes on a whole other level of meaning.

When Aurora premiered it behind closed doors last year, The Times described the experience as 'stupendous . . . unbearably poignant, yet also indefatigably stoic'.

Now's your chance to be in the very first audience to hear it performed live.

No matter if you've seen Beethoven's monumental Violin Concerto performed a dozen times before, the Aurora experience is something else entirely.

With soloist Nicola Benedetti, the players have left the sheet music and the music stands backstage.

All that's left for them to do is play their hearts out as one, joyous entity under the capable baton of conductor Nicholas Collon. Quite simply an unmissable highlight of London's summer return to orchestral music-making.
