After establishing his very solid reputation as a composer with radical works such as Music With Changing Parts (1970) and Einstein on the Beach (1976), it was with Glassworks (1982) that Philip Glass became known to the general public. The work, which presents itself as a six-piece synthesis of "Glass's works", has all the hallmarks of a manifesto, announcing the evolution of his music (and with it of "minimalism") towards greater simplicity, like the famous "Opening". An indestructible masterpiece of glass shot through with light, Glassworks has all the hallmarks of a cult album, revisited here in an original and appreciative manner by François Mardirossian (piano), Alexis Paul (barrel organ) and Lionel Palun (video).
