Video on demand: Halvorsen's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra

Bergen Philharmonic OrchestraRecorded at Grieg Hall (Grieghallen), Bergen, Norway

Norwegian violinist, conductor and composer Johan Halvorsen's compositions were a development of the national Romantic tradition exemplified by Edvard Grieg, though written in a distinctive style marked by innovative orchestration.
Watch his violin concerto (which was performed only three times in 1909 and then considered lost until it was found again in 2016) as performed by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Santtu-Matias Rouvali and with solo violin by Norwegian virtuoso Henning Kraggerud.

Filmed in March 2017.
