Víkingur Ólafsson first rose to prominence through two acclaimed albums, showcasing the music of Philip Glass and JS Bach. This bold statement embracing the contemporary and the traditional has served to build up a career of immense versatility and an arresting style. In his Papillons trilogy, Sørensen’s veiled, dreamy musical voice spins three different soundscapes around a single repeated piano part. British composer Edmund Finnis has been commissioned to write a solo complement to Sørensen’s quintet.
