Video on demand: The Orchestral Instruments: The PercussionKids event

KonserthusetPlayRecorded at Konserthuset Stockholm: Stora Salen, Stockholm, Sweden

Put simply, percussion instruments are any instruments you strike, whether with sticks or with your hands. At least 500 instruments are considered percussion instruments – and new ones appear all the time!

Percussion instruments can be so much more than drums: they include triangles, bells, xylophones – but sometimes even a vacuum cleaner pipe or an entire set of wineglasses! Make a visit to the percussion players amazing storage room in Konserthuset!

This video is part of a series of playful videos on how the instruments used in a symphony orchestra function and sound. In each film, musicians from the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra talk about their instruments and play one or several musical pieces together.

The series about the orchestral instruments is produced with the support of Konserthuset Stockholm's main sponsor SEB.
