Festival: Festival O

September 20th - 30th, 2018

“One of the most enjoyable additions to the fall calendar in years”

“A dramatic reboot”

“An innovative and daring way to open an opera season”

Opera Philadelphia’s Festival O is a civic experiment, comprised of opera and citywide events over multiple days, transforming Philadelphia into an urban stage where diverse audiences gather to share an experience and amplify human connectedness. Each year will feature a mix of world premieres, classic works in the grand operatic tradition, and performances staged throughout some of Philadelphia’s most extraordinary venues, such as the iconic rock venue Theatre of Living Arts and the esteemed Philadelphia Museum of Art. Performers will include rising stars like coloratura soprano Brenda Rae and tenor Michael Spyres plus opera legends like mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade and soprano Patricia Racette.

The performance is only part of your experience! Named one of The Best Places to Travel in 2017 by Travel + Leisure Magazine, Philadelphia is home to some of the nation's most important historic sites, spectacular museums, and innovative restaurants. The New York Times says, "With an ever-increasing number of stellar museums, the transformation of industrial spaces into artist studios and a newly invigorated clutch of outdoorsy offerings, the city has never been more inviting.” From neighborhood walks to nights out on the town, experience all Philadelphia has to offer.
