Why should someone come to your festival?

Visiting the SummerConcerts is a wonderful way to experience the Royal Concertgebouw with its amazing acoustics and interior, as well as the city of Amsterdam. A small city of 800.000 inhabitants, with the allure of a metropolitan city and over 180 different nationalities.

Where is it?

The Royal Concertgebouw is located in the centre of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. On the Museumplein, a green that is flanked by the three major museums of the Netherlands and the Royal Concertgebouw.

How to get there?

Airport: Schiphol Airport

From there you can take a train to Amsterdam Central Station and then either tram 12 or 5 to the Royal Concertgebouw.

If you come by car there is a parking garage opposite the Concertgebouw.

Local accommodation

There are many hotels in Amsterdam city and in the surrounding area. However, it is always wise to book ahead.

What can tourists visit nearby?

The three major museums of the Netherlands are located around the same green: the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh museum and the Stedelijk Museum (modern art). The inner city of Amsterdam is dedicated as a World Heritage site with its 17th Century houses and buildings and the canals. A boat trip comes highly recommended.

What type of programmes do you have?

The SummerConcerts at the Royal Concertgebouw feature over 80 concerts in July and August. And offer a wide diversity of concerts, from internationally acclaimed orchestra’s and soloists to many international youth orchestra’s and local talent and from classical to film music and jazz.

What are the venues like? 

The venue is the Royal Concertgebouw, build in 1888. A beautiful building, on the outside as well as the inside, with one of the best acoustics in the world.

Dress code

Because this is a summer festival, there is a casual dress code.

Food & Drink

There is a restaurant (LIER) in the Royal Concertgebouw where you can have a lovely dinner before most concerts in the Main Hall. To be booked in advance. Other than that there is a wide variety of restaurants in Amsterdam, with food from all over the world.
