December 8th – 29th, 2017

The lovely season of the Advent, Christmas and the New Year partners well with the jovial heritage of Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Vivaldi and other classical composers, as well as with Gregorian chants, Christmas carols in vivacious jazzy rhythms, and New Year’s Eve concerts that are always splendid. World-renowned soloists and conductors appear together with the Rīga Dome Cathedral Boys’ Choir, the Latvian Radio Choir and the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra. The “European Christmas” Festival is ready to delight audiences throughout December with splendid concerts at concert halls and churches in Rīga, as well as elsewhere in Latvia.

Appearing at the festival will be world-renowned Latvian musicians such as organist Iveta Apkalna, accordionist Ksenija Sidorova, and Kremerata Baltica percussion virtuoso Andrei Pushkarev and his jazz trio. Also appearing will be the Latvian Radio Choir, Sinfonietta Rīga, and the Latvian Radio Big Band. On December 17, at the Great Guild, Sinfonietta Rīga will appear under the baton of the musical director of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen orchestra, Florian Dondeder. A lovely tradition is a concert on December 30 to feature Bach’s Christmas Oratorio
