Suntory Hall has been presenting the Wiener Philharmoniker Week in Japan since 1999, now recognised as a prestigious festival as the Vienna Philharmonic Week in New York at Carnegie Hall.

The Wiener Philharmoniker Week in Japan 2018 opens with a special chamber music programme to be first performed as an official chamber music concert in Japan featuring authentic opera pieces arranged for chamber music.

For the orchestral programme, the orchestra conducted by Franz Welser-Möst welcomes the pianist Lang Lang as a soloist to perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.24, and the orchestra’s principal violinist Volkhard Steude and cellist Peter Somodari for Brahms’ Double Concerto for Violin and Cello etc.

Suntory Hall and the Wiener Philhamoniker also give high priority to educational programmes, such as the School Programme or the Master Class by a principal musician of the orchestra during the week.
