Performer: Georgios Balatsinos

Biography

Georgios Balatsinos is a conductor of Greek origin based in Bern, Switzerland.

He is a prize-winner of the International Concerto Competition for Young Conductors 2016 in Berlin and 1st Prize-winner of the International Conducting Competition Black Sea 2012.

He recently conducted the Berliner Symphoniker at the Berliner Philharmonie. In 2015, he conducted Donizetti’s Don Pasquale at the Stadt Theater of Meiningen and the same year he made his debut at the Musikverein in Vienna at SCL Festival.

Georgios has conducted numerous orchestras worldwide including the NAC Orchestra (Ottawa), Athens State Orchestra, Meininger Hofkapelle, the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, Greek National Radio Orchestra, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, Orchestra Verdi di Milano, Orchestra Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, Athens Symphony Orchestra, National Opera O. Danovsky (Rou) and many more.

He has been an active participant in many international masterclasses under the guidance of highly acclaimed professors such as David Zinman, Jorma Panula, Neeme Järvi, Gianluigi Gelmetti and Johannes Schlaefli.

He has received a comprehensive musical education in violin, viola, piano, composition and conducting at the conservatories of Detmold, Geneva, Bern, Lucerne and Milan. During his studies he has been awarded scholarships by various foundations including Lyra Foundation, Hirschmann Foundation, Onassis Foundation and IKY.
