At home: Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra

The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1902 and the Konserthuset – one of Stockholm’s most iconic buildings – has been its home since 1926. The RSPO gives around 100 concerts annually, and the orchestra participates annually in the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and the presentation of the Polar Music Prize. Regular guest conductors include Riccardo Muti, David Zinman, Marin Alsop, Michael Tilson Thomas and Gianandrea Noseda.

Finnish Sakari Oramo has been Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the RSPO since 2008. His current contract runs until 2020. He is also Chief Conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

To reach out to audiences who are unable to experience live concerts, the RSPO created their digital concert service KonserthusetPlay.
