Guide to the Kobe International Flute Competition

Timeline of competition

Kobe International Flute Competition runs from 26 August to 5 September 2021, Kobe, Japan

Application submissions are accepted from 1 October 2020 to 1 February 2021

Preliminary Screening: March 2021

1st round: August 26-28, 2021

2nd round: August 30-31, 2021

3rd round: September 2, 2021

Final round: September 4, 2021

Award ceremony and Final Concert: September 5, 2021

Travel and accommodation

A travel grant of JPY 50,000 is offered to those residing outside of Asia. Accommodation is provided at a hotel designated by the Secretariat, while a contestant is in the competition. Full details can be found on the competition's website.


First prize JPY 2,000,000

Second prize JPY 1,000,000

Third prize JPY 500,000

Fourth to sixth prizes JPY 200,000

Special prizes may be awarded in addition to those mentioned above.
