Guide to the Kobe International Flute Competition

Timeline of competition

Kobe International Flute Competition holds its 10 th edition in two phases due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The first round runs from 26 August to 5 September 2021 in an online format, and the second round and the rest of the competition takes place from 22 March to 28 March 2022 in Kobe, Japan.

Application submissions are accepted from 1 October 2020 to 1 March 2021

1st round: August 26 - September 5, 2021

2nd round: March 22-23, 2022

3rd round: March 25, 2022

Final round: March 27, 2022

Award ceremony and Final Concert: March 28, 2022

Travel and accommodation

A travel grant of JPY 50,000 is offered to those residing outside of Asia. Accommodation is provided at a hotel designated by the Secretariat, while a contestant is in the competition. Full details can be found on the competition's website.


First prize JPY 2,000,000

Second prize JPY 1,000,000

Third prize JPY 500,000

Fourth to sixth prizes JPY 200,000

Special prizes may be awarded in addition to those mentioned above.
