Virtuosos

2018 Winners of Season 4
Biography

Virtuosos is a unique format in worldwide television: a classical music talent show, where preparedness, diligence and qualifications count. All contestants are outstanding at playing a classical instrument or have remarkable achievements in classical singing. However, only one of them can get the main prize: the show will have only one absolute winner. And the jury - and finally the audience - decides who it will be. The stakes are enormous: opportunities are granted to perform in the highest-ranking concert halls of the world, together with a stipend of one million HUF per month for an entire year to devote to music studies.

At the moment of victory, the absolute winner is already at the stairway to world fame. Yet, it is a long way to reach this point! The eight-part talent show consists of three semi-finals (casting), three pre-finals, one final, and a live finale performance at the very end. Talents compete in age groups. There are three age groups: “Kids” (6-13), “Teens” (14-18) and “Young Adults” (19-24). In each round, contestants perform classical pieces of various levels of difficulty from their own repertoire. And those who are qualified to at least the pre-finals take part in a joint production with the star guest of the programme and must also show how they can play when accompanied by a chamber orchestra - and in the final, by a full orchestra.

This unique talent show brings classical music closer to everyone. Its most important undertaking is to discover classical music talents, so that these talents should set an example both for young viewers and their parents. The show is intended to make classical music training popular: an important mission is to present music studies and spending time with music as a meaningful and attractive pastime. Virtuosos can show that classical music is a real experience, you can live it, enjoy it and love it, and that talent has countless faces!
