Beethoven & Brahms by Candlelight: Clarinet Trios

St James's Church, PiccadillyLondon, Greater London, W1J 9LL, United Kingdom
On Friday 29 May 2020 at 19:30

This evening’s concert features two stunning works in the clarinet trio repertoire.   The brilliance of Beethoven’s piano writing shines through against the beautiful lyricism of the clarinet and cello.  By contrast, Brahms, heavily influenced himself by Beethoven, pushes the three instruments to heightened levels of technical challenges and romantic expression.  The programme is complemented by the ever-popular Shepherd on the Rock by Schubert for soprano, clarinet and piano.

The Piccadilly Chamber Music Series is now in its third season and aims to share chamber music with a wider audience, featuring some of London’s very best chamber groups and players. All concerts are hosted by St James’s Church Piccadilly, a spectacular building situated on Piccadilly, designed by the great Sir Christopher Wren.  This majestic London landmark, complete with its own outdoor marketplace, boasts a beautiful acoustic and plays host to one of the capital’s most stunning concert Fazioli pianos.  Its location offers an enviable choice of bars, restaurants and hotels enabling you to plan the perfect musical experience to share with your loved ones and friends.

Clarinettist Kristal Hamson has played with many of the UK’s finest orchestras and chamber ensembles, giving recitals at the Wigmore and Queen Elizabeth Halls.   Brilliant cellist Pavlos Carvalho performs regularly throughout the UK as soloist and chamber musician, notably performing the Elgar Cello Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra last year.    The stunning soprano, Susan Parkes has performed as soloist at the Royal Albert Hall and in many operas across the UK and abroad.    Artistic Director of The Piccadilly Chamber Music Series, Warren Mailley-Smith has performed many times for the british royal Family.   He has recently made his debut with the RPO and this season is performing all 5 of Beethoven’s piano concertos at St Martin in the Fields.

Audiences will be treated to an uplifting, entertaining and informative musical evening.   www.piccadillychamberconcerts.com The West End’s most dynamic chamber music series.
