Schubert wrote nine symphonies but never heard them performed. His great C major symphony was first performed in 1839 in Leipzig by Mendelssohn, after Schumann had found the score in Vienna.
At the time, it was considered difficult to play, but today we enjoy its beauty.
Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto was written almost 30 years earlier and premiered by Beethoven himself in 1803.
