In 2018 the Castalian String Quartet won a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship Award, and were chosen as the winners of the first Merito String Quartet Award and Valentin Erben Prize from the five best-qualified quartets considered. The following year, they were awarded the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Prize for the Young Artist of the Year (2019). In September 2021 they were named as the inaugural Hans Keller String Quartet in Residence at the Oxford University Faculty of Music, a position they will hold for the next three years.

The Castalian Quartet have travelled widely with their music, playing across America, Canada, Colombia, and as far as Israel and China as well as closer to home on the Continent. Highlights this season include debut invitations to Carnegie Hall, Vienna Konzerthaus, Paris Philharmonie, Auditorium du Louvre, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Lucerne Chamber Music Society, Brussels Flagey, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Saffron Hall, and the Aldeburgh, East Neuk, Spoleto, North Norfolk, Heidelberg Spring, Rheingau, Mosel, and Dresden festivals.

The concert will be preceded by a talk by Roy Stratford at 6.45pm. Admission is free but donations are welcome (£3 suggested).
