Little loved by his contemporaries, Hector Berlioz's work has gained prestige over time, becoming today the tree that hides the forest of French Romantic musicians. A friend of Franz Liszt and a connoisseur of the works of Richard Wagner, Berlioz shared with Louise Farrenc a critical view of his time, as well as a cult of Beethoven.
Although they pursued different stylistic paths, both contributed to the definition of a French aesthetic space that the young Camille Saint-Saëns would continue to pursue until the early 20th century. Naïri Badal and Adélaïde Panaget jointly explore this terrain, steeped in fantastical imagery and imbued with audacity.
