Bach’s concertos are the pinnacle of Baroque finesse and splendour. They effortlessly encapsulate vigour, beauty and austerity in scores as succinct as they are unforgettable. Surviving only as versions for harpsichord, no one knows what instrument BWVs 1052 and 1056 were originally written for. But these were certainly the first solo keyboard concertos ever to exist, setting the stage for the piano. The formidable Polina Osetinskaya brings you the piano versions of these masterworks in this programme conducted by Swiss maestro Mario Venzago, who also leads the Singapore Symphony in Schumann’s noble Second Symphony.
This concert is dedicated to the late Dr Goh Keng Swee, founding patron of the SSO.
