Tender and thoughtful, restless yet gentle. Schumann’s Cello Concerto is music at its most personal.

Written in just two weeks, this lyrical work reaches straight to the heart. The cello sings, sighs, and soars, in this intimate conversation with the orchestra.

Described by The Times as ‘mesmerising’ and ‘soaringly passionate’, British cellist Natalie Clein brings her distinctive artistry to the programme. She begins the evening alongside Sinfonia Smith Square’s musicians in Schubert’s String Quintet, a chamber masterpiece known for its luminous beauty and striking contrasts, before taking centre stage for the concerto.

Presented in association with The Stradivari Trust celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Since 1985, Stradivari Trust has helped Britain’s most talented young musicians to acquire their own fine string instruments – from the first instrument scheme with Nigel Kennedy to the latest with Natalie Clein.
