Relaxed performance
Nicola Benedetti has been called the nation’s favourite classical violinist, but she’s a natural communicator even without her violin – and utterly committed to bringing the joy of music to the widest possible audience. In this morning’s Relaxed Prom she plays highlights from last night’s Prom with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (see Prom 67). But she’s also the presenter, in an hour-long, informal concert that features Britten’s wonderfully vivid musical seascapes, as well as Bernstein’s exuberant dances from West Side Story, in an environment specially devised for individuals or groups who feel more comfortable attending concerts in less formal surroundings.
£8.50–£20 (plus booking fee)
BBC Proms relaxed performances are designed to suit individuals or groups who feel more comfortable attending concerts in a relaxed environment. There is a relaxed attitude to noise and audience-members are free to leave and re-enter the auditorium at any point. There will be chill-out areas, where spaces are made for anyone needing a bit of quiet time before or during the performance. For full details, visit bbc.co.uk/proms.
