Valerie Fritz | Cello |
Goran Stevanovic | Accordion |
Austrian cellist and ECHO Rising Star Valerie Fritz performs with acclaimed Bosnion accordionist Goran Stevanovich in the atmospheric setting of LSO St Luke’s.
Fritz specialises in both contemporary and classical music, applying experiments with electronics and gut strings to a broad repertoire. For this performance in LSO St Luke’s, the programme explores the complex tension between doubt and faith, from Schumann’s Five Pieces in Folk Style, through a movement from Messiaen’s startling Quatour pour le fin du temps, to more contemporary works, such as Mikołaj Majkusiak’s Rhythms of Doubt, and a brand new ECHO commission by Jennifer Walshe.
Valerie Fritz is the first prize winner of the Berlin Prize for Young Artists and the Mainardi Cello Competition, as well as a scholarship holder of the concerto21 Foundation. She studied at the Mozarteum Salzburg under Clemens Hagen and Giovanni Gnocchi.
