Fragile freedoms, so often damaged by seismic shifts in popular sentiment, stand behind Simon Wallfisch’s choice of songs. The British-German baritone, member of a remarkable musical family, is joined by a Wigmore Hall regular Joseph Middleton in a programme that includes 4 Songs on Chinese Poetry by Pavel Hass and the tender Ein jüdisches Kind by Carlo Sigmund Taube, both murdered by the Nazis at Auschwitz-Birkenau in October 1944.
