How is it that composers such as Schönberg, Berg and Webern, whose aesthetics are the antithesis of the “three beat bonbons” of the King of the Waltz, decided on 27 May 1921 to organise an evening in Vienna entirely dedicated to the work of Johann Strauss, during which they presented arrangements for small ensembles of his most beautiful gems?
