Ivor Gurney is renowned as both a song composer and a poet of place and war. He served in the First World War, and ended his days in an asylum, torn away from his beloved Gloucestershire.

Two Exeter University scholars, Philip Lancaster and Tim Kendall, are bringing some of Gurney's previously unknown and unpublished poetry and music to a wider audience. In this lecture-recital they talk about Gurney and his work, and, with Timothy Noon at the piano, bring that work to life with song performances by Philip Lancaster, and readings of the composer's poems.
