Our 'Ballet for Children' for 2022 is David BINTLEY's 'Still Life' at the Penguin Café. Set to the disarming avant-pop music of the Penguin Café Orchestra, a world music ensemble that was a sensation in the 1980s, and performed by dancers in charming animal masks, this work has an underlying message about modern environmental issues and is a scathing criticism of the state of our civilisation.
This performance will be preceded by a pre-show talk about endangered animals and related topics, with the aim of encouraging people to think about the themes of the piece and, by extension, environmental issues.
