Bergen Philharmonic OrchestraAufgenommen am Grieg Hall (Grieghallen), Bergen, Norwegen

Gurre-Lieder is a large cantata for five vocal soloists, narrator, chorus and large orchestra, composed by Arnold Schoenberg, based on poems by Danish novelist Jens Peter Jacobsen. The title means "songs of Gurre", referring to Gurre Castle in Denmark, the scene of the medieval legend (a love story and a tragedy) featuring Danish king Valdemar Atterdag and his mistress Tove, who is murdered by Valdemar's jealous Queen Helvig.

Watch tenor Stuart Skelton, soprano Alwyn Mellor, mezzo-soprano Anna Larsson and bass James Creswell take on this piece, together with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Edward Gardner.

Filmed in December 2015.
