This recital pairs two masterpieces of German Romantic song. Robert Schumann’s Dichterliebe (1840) with Johannes Brahms’s Neun Lieder und Gesänge Op.32 (1864). Together, these works offer two contrasting visions of Romantic love: Schumann’s mercurial lyricism and Brahms’s profound, searching introspection.
