Opera North performed a semi-staged and shortened Fidelio with a committed group of soloists, chorus and orchestra led by Mark Wiggelsworth.  With a pared Orchestra, the opera came across as a hymn of hope.

In its revival of the 2014 production of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, the Metropolitan Opera offers a satisfying blend of comic antics, beautifully realized music, and some top-notch singing in several roles.
