Experience two Nordic giants - Jean Sibelius and Carl Nielsen. In the symphonic fantasy Pohjola's daughter, Sibelius portrays the hero Väinämöinen seeing a beautiful girl spinning gold yarn in the sky. Sibelius charged his musical imagination with lots of intensity and strong colors, well matched by the sounds of the Gothenburg Symphony and soprano Anu Komsi.

Carl Nielsen wrote his fourth symphony in the shadow of the First World War. This emotional music revolves around life and what it is to be human. As description of the symphony, Carl Nielsen wrote: "Music is life and as such unquenchable". He also called it "The Inextinguishable".

More Finnish music, with Magnus Lindbergs' Accused for soprano and orchestra, with lyrics from three revolutionary interrogation reports. Accused is a co-commissioned work by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
