Combining a string quartet and girls’ choir may sound “easygoing and nice” on paper, says the Danish String Quartet (DSQ) about its collaboration with the Danish National Girls’ Choir, “but that is not how things are going to play out.” In this bespoke program, two daring ensembles give visceral power to a millennium of women-centered music and more. The concert includes the Allemande from Caroline Shaw’s Pulitzer Prize–winning Partita for 8 Voices; works by Anna Thorvaldsdottir, Lotta Wennäkoski, and electronic musician Astrid Sonne; and more, interspersed with traditional tunes from Scandinavia and beyond. Also featured is the New York premiere of David Lang’s in wildness, co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall.
