This dark sci-fi gem from 2001 became one of the cult films of the early 2000s almost entirely by word of mouth. Director Richard Kelly's debut had a rather unmemorable run in theaters. Released just two months after 9/11 and with promotion that centered around a plane crash, the film seemed doomed to failure from the start. Despite this rocky start,  Donnie Darko became  a genuine underground hit on DVD and grew to become a 'must see' for any film lover with a nose for eccentric cinema.

Eric Sleichim: ''I want to emphasize the different storylines with Bl!ndman without falling into the clichés of a traditional 'horror movie' accompaniment. The typical eighties songs (Duran Duran, Echo & the Bunnymen, Joy Division, ...) are of course retained as such. It is an arsenal of instruments (saxes, percussion, turntables, electronics ...) that will give the sound of the film a physical presence. The musicians on stage are part of another parallel world, a tribe elsewhere in time and space.''
