Soprano and pianist from Bergen – exquisite and effervescent.

Caroline Wettergreen was awarded the Equinor talent grant for classical music in 2018. According to jury chair Leif Ove Andsnes she has ‘solid technique, sparkling charisma and world class high notes.’

She was brilliant as the Queen of the Night when the Norwegian Opera staged The Magic Flute in 2019. Her stage performance was dynamic, emotional and precise. She now makes her Bergen International Festival debut alongside the critically acclaimed pianist Christian Grøvlen, described by a national newspaper as ‘both an old school virtuoso and a young artist with a good command of current trends.’

In Håkonshallen the duo presents a varied programme reflecting Caroline Wettergreen’s artistic work. She was introduced to Grieg’s music in her youth, growing up in Bergen close to the composer’s home Troldhaugen, and also as a student to Bernstein’s humorous I hate music!

‘All in all this is repertoire that means a lot to me. It has followed me through several phases of my development as a musician,’ she explains.
