The first day of the Baltic Sea Festival revolves around art, the power of water, and the role of man. Inherited stories of floods can be found across the world, and as far back as thousands of years ago. Of all the musical settings, Benjamin Britten’s is one of the best loved and most played. Here, we unite children and adults, professional and amateur musicians, in a beloved dramatisation of the Bible’s story about Noah who saves people and animals from a great natural disaster. The evening’s conversation with chief conductor Alan Gilbert, who is heavily involved in sustainability, both within art and outside it, is live-streamed from Copenhagen.
