Das ist ein interessanter Zufall, denn Toscanini war von dieser Oper so angetan, dass er seine ersten beiden Kinder nach zwei ihrer Partien nannte – Walter und Wally. Für Gustav Mahler war La Wally überhaupt „die beste italienische Oper“.
