Chamber Series: Schubert Quintet

The Hallé’s lunchtime Chamber Series at Hallé St Peter’s provides a unique opportunity to hear players and guest artists perform in more intimate surroundings.

Roberto Ruisi and friends open the Hallé’s Chamber Series with Schubert’s Quintet in C major, Desert Island Discs’ most frequently requested piece of chamber music. The addition of a second cello to the usual quartet line-up gives an unparalleled richness, and the music travels from the symphonic scale of the first movement to the exuberant folk-tinged finale, via one of the most sublime slow movements.
