Guide to the Ilona Fehér International Violin Competition

About the competition

Ilona Fehér was truly the most famous Hungarian violin professor student of legendary Jenő Hubay. She was the first teacher in Tel Aviv of world-renowned artists such as Pinchas Zuckerman, Shlomo Mintz, Hagai Shaham and Shmuel Ashkenazy.

In 2017 the Ilona Fehér International Violin Competition was the first international contest for young violinists under the age of 18 in Hungary. We believe that for the Hungarian and international students it is the best time to meet to become friends and to meet the distinguished jury as well. And at the same time we think that it is also the best time for the jury members to get to know such talents from 20-25 countries from all over the world.

During the Festival Academy all of the contestants get masterclasses from the pre-selection jury and the ones who haven't been selected can also enjoy and explore the festival's full program.

Above all each of the jury members select from the contestants few violinists to give masterclasses to, which means all together about 25 of the 45 violinists will get extra lessons from a juror.

So we offer to the candidates masterclasses, a chamber music festival and a summer academy attendance at the same time as a competition.
