The Dragon Within Me is an ode to a friendship between a little girl and a dragon. The dragon lives inside the little girl, teaches her to recognise her feelings and how she can respond to them. In this unique new work, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra takes the role of the dragon, and narrator Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir takes the role of the girl.

The dragon has its own theme, which appears in various guises and paves a path through the orchestra depending on its mood. At the beginning, the dragon is cheerful and light-hearted, but as the work progresses all sorts of different emotions break out, and the dragon may dance with joy or erupt with rage. But at the core, the dragon is a lovely character, and it is the creators' hope that members of the audience will find their own dragon within them at the concert.
