Erste journalistische Arbeiten, Gedichte und Reportagen verfasste Dieter Bub mit 13, mit 19 dann Konzertkritiken. Er arbeitete als Reporter & Redakteur bei Tageszeitungen, anschließend war er Mitarbeiter beim NDR in Hannover, Hamburg und Westberlin mit Schwerpunkt DDR.
