This event is part of the 2019 Oxford Lieder Festival.

Nordic legends, Norse gods, trolls and magical landscapes: a riveting
exploration of these influences on the music of Edvard Grieg begins the
Festival. In the first part of this event, Heather O’Donoghue will
introduce key stories and characters from Old Norse myths, interspersed
with songs and piano music. Daniel Grimley, who led last year’s Nordic
Song day, then introduces ‘Haugtussa’, the mystic mountain-dwelling
protagonist of Grieg’s only song cycle, before a complete performance of
the cycle by acclaimed soprano Claire Booth and pianist Christopher
Glynn.

There will be a one-hour break, 12.30pm-1.30pm, and a light lunch will be available for purchase in advance (£7)
