Hexe Hillary geht in die OperKids event

Little Hexe Hillary, a witch, wins two tickets to the opera in a radio competition. She’s quite proud of her prize – until she realizes she has no idea what opera is. And when it’s time to collect the prize, her disappointment couldn’t be bigger: all she gets is two pieces of paper. But she’s not so easily put off: Now that she’s won those slips of paper, she wants to know what it’s all about. Her Little Witches from A to Z lexicon helps her out: «Oper ist Theater, wo alle nur singen.» Or, «opera is theater, but everyone sings instead.» That’s got to be some kind of a curse – who’d sign up for that?! Naturally, Hillary can’t help but try out the spell, which she thinks is a singing curse. Something appears to have gone wrong, though, because Maria Bellacanta appears, conjured up out of nowhere. Not only is Maria Bellacanta a federally certified witch, she’s also an opera singer. Together, Maria and Hillary discover that sometimes it’s easier to express oneself with music than it is with words. This performance will include excerpts from Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, and Gounod’s Faust.

Die kleine Hexe Hillary gewinnt im Radio zwei Karten für die Oper. Mächtig stolz ist sie auf ihren Gewinn – bis ihr klar wird, dass sie gar keine Ahnung hat, was das ist: Oper. Und als der Gewinn eintrifft, ist die Enttäuschung perfekt: Zwei langweilige Papierschnipsel hält sie in der Hand. Aber so leicht lässt sie sich nicht abspeisen! Da sie die Papierschnipsel nun einmal gewonnen hat, will sie auch wissen, was es damit auf sich hat. Das Lexikon Die kleine Hexe von A bis Z gibt Auskunft: «Oper ist Theater, wo alle nur singen.» Das kann nur ein Fluch sein – wer singt schon freiwillig?! Natürlich kann sie es nicht lassen, den Hexenspruch, den sie für den Singfluch hält, auch gleich auszuprobieren. Doch offensichtlich geht etwas schief: Wie aus dem Boden gezaubert taucht Maria Bellacanta auf, eidgenössisch diplomierte Hexe und – Opernsängerin. Mit ihr zusammen entdeckt Hillary die Welt der Oper und erfährt, dass man Gefühle mit Musik oft viel genauer ausdrücken kann als mit noch so vielen Worten. In der Aufführung erklingen unter anderem Ausschnitte aus Humperdincks Hänsel und Gretel, Mozarts Die Zauberflöte und Gounods Faust.
