Work: Mavra

In the first of its opera productions this season, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama presented an interesting combination of Stravinsky's odd little comedy, Mavra and Tchaikovsky's tale of the blind princess, Iolanta.

A wedding feast, a man in drag and an outwitted fox were unlikely accomplices in the second concert in the Philharmonia's series Stravinsky: Myths and Rituals. 

Two Russian Tales: Stravinsky’s Mavra and Walton’s The Bear are an unexpected glittering delight at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Opera Studio in Glasgow.
