'Bell doesn’t stand in anyone’s shadow' (The New York Times). A rare UK solo recital from one of the few violinists in the world today whose every note is worth hearing.

‘A superb performance’ wrote The Observer the last time Bell played at the Barbican, before going on to declare the whole recital ‘an exhilarating evening’. This time around, Bell’s chosen a programme that plays to his profoundest qualities, whether the beauty of Beethoven or the electrically charged virtuosity of Prokofiev.

So while any London recital from Bell is something of a special occasion, this latest collaboration with his regular recital-partner, pianist Sam Haywood, is perfectly gauged to display his artistic strength in depth – with Grieg’s underrated Second Sonata serving as a lovely bonus at the evening’s heart. ‘Chamber music is my greatest love,’ says Bell, and if previous recitals are any guide, this should be treasurable.
