Festival: Händel Festival Halle

“Messiah” is not only Handel’s most famous work – it is viewed as the archetypal oratorio par excellence. From 1750 onwards, “Messiah” was performed almost every year without interruption in the chapel of the Foundling Hospital in London. In the meantime, it has also become a tradition to perform the work each year during the Handel Festival in the church in Halle where Handel was baptised, with top Baroque musicians taking part. This year, conductor Howard Arman, a very well-known figure in Halle, and an internationally celebrated ensemble of soloists, Concerto Köln together with the Bavarian Radio Choir, will be presenting his interpretation of this famous work.
