Following the resounding success of his tours with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Principal Guest Conductor Pinchas Zukerman returns to conduct the Orchestra in a sparkling programme of Russian gems, including Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No.1, performed by Olga Kern. The concert culminates in the ravishing Second Symphony by Rachmaninov, a work which ranges from stormy turbulence to aching romanticism, all the while showcasing the Orchestra’s capacity for lush textures. TheSan Francisco Chronicle declared that Pinchas Zukerman ‘conducts with an abundance of spirit’, and it is that combination of energy and flair which makes his interpretations of this repertoire so irresistible.
